It Was Just A Dream

A tough loss today. NC State wins 28-24. FSU had the ball on the 4 yard line with less than a minute to play but fumbled the game away. My hats off to NC State. They played hard and deserve to win.

Are We There Yet

Lots of negative political ads on tv here in Tallahassee. A good point was made by negative ads by Leon County Election Supervisor Ion Sancho. He believes that part of the intent of negative ads is to surpress the vote by discouraging people from wanting to vote. I think he has a point.

Trickle Down

This cartoon was a recent editor's pick at Funny Times.

Octopus's Garden

Most people don't think of Ringo Starr as a songwriter but he wrote this Beatles song and it kicks ass. Good song to listen to while one goofs off.

Writers Block

Whenever I get an idea or ideas I try to write them down on a scrap of paper that I stuff in my shirt pocket.
For example, here are my cartoon ideas that I wrote down Monday:
Haus - a parody of the tv show House where Dr. Haus and staff must diagnose
Uncle Sam who is in a coma
If it wasn't attached - about losing things
Best of Times/Worst of Times - a "on the one hand/on the other hand"
cartoon
Environmental cartoon - guy accidently dumps invasive plant into river,
introduces invasive fish to eat invasive plant, etc.

I would say about 2/3 of the ideas I come up with this way never amount to anything. Some get lost in the wash. Some get lost when I clean up my desk area. Some I abandon after I start working on them and realize they weren't such great ideas after all. Like a salmon swimming upstream, a few make it to fruition. But at worst, it gives me something to do until real inspiration strikes.

Car Falling Off Cliff

Polls in Florida show Republican Marco Rubio ahead of Charlie Crist and Kendrick Meeks and the dreadful Rick Scott ahead of Alex Sink (but barely). Democrats may lose the House and Senate. The American public is suffering from mass amnesia. They've forgotten who drove the car off the cliff.

Whats Up

Whats up?
Chicken butt.

Guess why?
Chicken thigh.

Guess where?
Chicken hair.

Guess how?
Chicken cow.

Guess who?
Chicken poo.

There is something seriously wrong with our education system if kids aren't learning this on school playgrounds.

Getting Older

Getting older. Cartoon based on real life event. I was in a parking lot and this little old lady was attempting to go over a speed bump. The car would start to go over and then would fall back. Again and again. I was laughing my ass off.

FSU is not playing this week. I hope Ponder gets his shoulder back in shape. Next game is against North Carolina State.

Meanwhile the race for governor in Florida is too close to call. I hope Alex Sink wins. Rick Scott defrauded Medicare of billions. He makes Gordon Gecko look like a philanthropist.

Political Jeopardy

click on image to see larger image
Months ago if you told me I was going to vote for Congressman Alan Boyd I would have laughed in your face. He is as slimey as they get. I voted against him in the primary. So did alot of other Democrats. He barely survived which given that he is the incumbent says something about the regard that his fellow Democrats have for our backstabbin blue dog. But then I started to look at his tea party opponent. It bothers me that Southerland didn't pay his taxes for a couple of years. It bothers me alot. It bothers me that Southerland is like alot of the other Florida GOP crazies who have successfully driven the GOP moderates out of the party. It bothers me that these crazies may gain control of either the House and/or Senate. So I'm going with the lesser of two evils. I'm voting for Boyd. I'm not happy about it. I'm not proud about it. But sometimes you have to do what you have to do. I guess this isn't much of an endorsement.
